AICOL is the oldest English school on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia, established in 1993. It is located in Southport, looking east over the Broadwater to the Pacific Ocean. It is 5 minutes walk from a large shopping centre, and trams and buses stops. Our courses are CRICOS registered for student visas, and include young learners (6 to 12 years old) high school preparation, general English, and IELTS test preparation.

Our school is open the whole year, with holiday only over Christmas/New Year of 2 weeks. The numbers of students vary greatly depending on the time of year. For example, during January we have very few Japanese, but have a lot of Europeans, During June we have more Russians, and during August we have more Japanese.

The Gold Coast is a city of Approximately 600,000 people, facing onto the Pacific Ocean. It is a year round equitable climate, with cool dry winters (average daily maximum of 20 degrees C) and warm, wetter summers (average daily maximum of around 30 degrees C). The air is clean, and there is no heavy industry, with the main commerce being health, education, and tourism. Behind the Gold Coast is the hinterland, with world heritage listed rainforest.

The city is cosmopolitan, with 30% of the population being born in another country (typical of Australia's international mix). In short, the Gold Coast is a safe, welcoming, and comfortable place to live. I hope this information is sufficient.

We occupy our own building in the business district of Sourhport, surrounded by many different kinds of restaurants and shops, with beautiful views of the park and broadwater and Pacific Ocean. All rooms are air-conditioned with natural lighting. There is a maximum of 15 students per class.
